We are delighted to announce that Franklin's Chair of Corporation, Alex Baxter, has been awarded one of the first-ever honorary degrees for Grimsby.
Alex, who also serves as the Managing Director of North East Lincolnshire's Major Events Team and Deputy Lieutenant for Lincolnshire, was awarded the prestigious honour in recognition of his leadership in supporting the Armed Forces and his dedication and commitment to Education in North East Lincolnshire.
Speaking at the ceremony, Alex said: To be receiving the first honorary degree [for the University Centre Grimsby] is a shock. In all the challenges and successes I’ve had in my career, through the many years I’ve been involved in education, this is certainly a first. It’s pathfinding, and I hope there will be many, many people who equally deserve such an award. It is unique, it is prestigious, and I am so, so humbled by the whole experience.”
