Personal & Professional Development Programmes

What is PPD?

As a student with us, your Personal and Professional Development (PPD) is key!

It's all about taking part in unforgettable experiences and opportunities to develop essential skills, preparing you for life after Franklin.

You'll mix and match your PPD activities alongside your studies to fit your goals and aspirations. From taking part in incredible trips and visits, exploring your interests, and developing your confidence, you'll make lifetime friendships and amazing memories as you see your future with Franklin.

Personal Development

Personal Development gives you a chance to get involved in an exciting range of clubs, activities, societies, trips, and visits to support your studies.

Whether you want to explore the world with our incredible trips, join a club related to your course, take part in sport, or explore something entirely new. With over 50 clubs on offer, you’ll be spoilt for choice, and if you can’t find the club that suits you, you can even start a new one!

Professional Development

Our Professional Development Programme and Centre for Professional Development (CfPD) Team offers you links with universities, higher apprenticeship providers, and employers to boost your skill set, provide valuable experiences, and significantly improve your employability and life chances. The team also works with local and national partners to organise interactive talks, masterclasses, visits and more to help you see your future and develop the skills needed to reach your goals.

Student-led Clubs

Pokémon

If Pokémon if your thing, this is your club. Mix with like-minded people and bring your cards to play against your new friends.

Harry Potter Society

Is there a more dedicated fanbase out there? This is a chance for you to get together, share your knowledge to your peers, chat about your favourite scenes, quiz your friends about their knowledge and see who the biggest fan is.

Yoga

This yoga session is open to all levels and not so much student led, but YouTube led. A lot of us experienced the benefits of YouTube for health and fitness during lockdown. There are some superb coaches online for Yoga, so come and give it a try…some eager staff have already signed up too.

Games Design Room

This is an already established group of students who are happy to have more students involved. Pop in and see what’s going on, check out the software they are using and see if you would enjoy getting involved.

Music Appreciation Society

This is a time to finally remove those headphones, take out the air pods and listen to music together. When this club was successful before, it became more debate club meets an album listening party. We all know how passionate people get with music and this is the perfect place to share this passion and opinion.

Or even suggest a club!

If you have any suggestions for more clubs (student or staff-led), you know the drill.
Email ppd@franklin.ac.uk or pop in and see us in room 51.
