Get ready to work through a wide selection of scripts and rework them for a modern audience, using a broad range of devising techniques to develop creativity and performance. Our Performance For All enrichment encourages collaboration, teamwork and problem solving.

Creative writing is a place where students can experiment with different forms of written expression. Whether you are a budding poet, serious about screenplays, passionate about short stories, or itching to write about current affairs, review your favourite films or music, or feel compelled to get into blogging, this enrichment opportunity will benefit anyone wanting to pursue a career in writing, publishing, journalism, marketing, creative arts and media, and will help develop transferable skills that can be taken into virtually any career that you pursue.

The scheme will complement our existing Journalism Club and be open to both first- and second-years looking to develop their interest, hone their skills, and put together an impressive portfolio before they step out into their chosen futures. It will run with support from English course tutor, Richard Kay, who’ll share the skills and knowledge he developed during his degree in Professional Writing.

Interested in the great outdoors? Experience some of this country's amazing mountains and landscapes through Mountaineering Club. Not only will you go on adventures, you will plan them, learn key skills like map reading, contingency planning, daily nutrition and survival techniques. This club is for newcomers to expeditions to the more experienced adventurers.

Film Makers Club is an opportunity to watch, critique and review interesting, thought-provoking movies. Come along and become part of the IntoFilm national film club and participate in an ongoing film review competition, get involved in discussions about directors, themes, characters, aesthetics and pretty much anything that you find interesting as well as recommending future film screenings.

The Student Union is a student run group that dedicates its time to representing the whole student community, making sure student voices are heard and influencing the future direction of the college.

If you have passion and want to campaign on behalf of others, then the Student Union is a way you can do that! Whether you are passionate about equality and diversity, technology, faith and culture, wellbeing, fundraising, marketing or the environment the student union has a role for you.

Are you an aspiring stand-up comedian? Join this student led club to create material and work together to improve delivery techniques, build on confidence and performance, with opportunities to organise comedy shows.

Students with a passion for Dance can improve physical skills, strength, stamina, flexibility and overall fitness for creating and directing choreography, with a focus on different styles like contemporary, ballet and more! 

Yoga is a brilliant way to improve your physical and mental health. This linked with a host of mindfulness techniques can be accessed through our wellbeing team.

Through the sessions you will learn simple, powerful mindfulness and meditation techniques to help improve your physical and mental wellbeing.

The sessions will support you to learn new skills to better understand your thoughts and feelings and improve the way you respond to challenges.

An opportunity for students to learn about and discuss the devastating events of the Holocaust. It explores how events surrounding the Holocaust can teach students key lessons about respect, tolerance and being more accepting of others. This programme ends with a four-day trip to Krakow to visit Auschwitz.

Sports Hall and Field

Lunch 12:15-13:00 

Franklin offers various sports at ALL levels! The sports hall every lunch is open with basketball, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, futsal and so much more. We also have the benefit of great outdoor space for volleyball and football to be outside, along with rounders, cricket and whatever else our students request. Any time of the day our Sports Coordinator will be putting sports on for our students to turn up and play in-between their lessons.

Our Music Performance group is full of like-minded students who want to learn a new instrument or perfect their skills. From guitars to pianos, drums to a violin, come down and see what's on offer.  If our students feel confident to do so, we have performances in the covered courtyard regularly, showcasing Franklin's amazing talent!

Photography club is for our Photography students and will begin the 3rd term.

At Franklin Sixth Form College we appreciate the benefit of exercise, both for physical and mental health. The gym is open throughout the week completely free of charge. All that is needed is an induction from one of our members of the sports department. 

We want to take away any nerves of walking into the gym for the first time, so we offer girls only gym sessions throughout the week.

The last Thursday of every month

Thrift will host Thrift Thursdays on the last Thursday of every month where students and staff can purchase preloved clothing, shoes, accessories, books and records and swap their own donations for a Thrift ‘credit’ to use in the shop. All money raised through Thrift will be donated to the college’s chosen charity for the year.

DND is a fantasy RPG where you work collaboratively with a team under the constraints of your character.

The DM creates the world and the NPS’s and you are in charge of what your character does and go on quests to level up. Roll a nat 20 and come join us on our campaign.

Join our Esports Teams and compete in the British Esports Student Championships against over 100 other colleges from all over the country. Across 4 games, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, League Of Legends & Valorant. This is an excellent programme for those wanting to consider gaming as a career path, as this is a growing profession in the technology industry. 

This is an amazing opportunity for students to come along and play games of their choice in our state-of-the-art Esports suite, bring a group or come and make new friends! This enrichment supports social development and works to provide a de-stressing environment which aims to have a positive effect on students’ wellbeing via a popular interest.

Franklin singers sing a wide range of music from classical through Shows to Pop and some for unaccompanied voices (acapella). This musical enrichment provides opportunities to develop vocal skills and techniques whilst contributing to personal growth via building confidence and working on the ability to form positive relationships. It is an excellent opportunity to get performance experience as it includes performing at college events. 

If our singers are confident enough, we invite them to perform in our covered courtyard regularly. You'll be blown away by the talent we have!

Environmental Champions brings together sustainability and rewilding efforts help build a home for nature and help improve our local community. Providing opportunities to engage with external organisations and work with the college leadership team to put positive changes in place to enhance the college's sustainability status. Projects include creating natural habitats for wildlife, promoting viable materials, and planting trees and flowers around College.

Compete in our regional AoC Sports Teams. 

The opportunity to represent the College regionally and nationally.

We are delighted to offer Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) at Franklin. This not only looks great on CVs and UCAS applications, it's a game changer in the world of PPD and enjoyment! Skills will be developed, you'll improve physically and also look at volunteering. Not to mention the adventure and expeditions that come along with this!

At Maths Challenge, you will learn how to effectively tackle interesting and engaging problems, and have chance to show off those new skills in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. There will also be the opportunity to take part in the M3 Maths Modelling Challenge with your friends, when you’ll learn how to apply the maths you’ve learnt in exciting real-life contexts, as well as having the chance to win up to $20,000 and a trip to New York! For those students applying to Oxbridge or other top Russell Group universities, thorough preparation and coaching will be offered towards the STEP/MAT/TMUA entrance examinations.
