If you have a passion for sport and progressing onto an exciting career in the sports industry, this is the course for you! The course will help you to deconstruct performance and training, allowing you to make a well informed judgement on aspects of sport.Course Content
- Anatomy and physiology (externally assessed)
- Fitness training and programming for health and well-being in sport
- Professional development in the sports industry
- Fitness testing and application
You will get the opportunity to participate in various sports teams and recreational activities through the department’s enrichment offer and being a part of the AoC Sport Yorkshire and Humberside fixtures programme. You will have access to various trips and workshops organised by local universities looking at deepening your knowledge on topics such as biomechanics and V02 max testing. Local trips to employers such as Cleethorpes Leisure Centre and a sports injuries clinic help you to apply theory to the workplace.
Your Opportunities
Many students go onto higher education to study various sport related degree courses such as Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Coaching, Sports Psychology, Sports Development, and Coaching to name but a few. Recently students have gained an apprenticeship working in local schools to deliver sport, and gaining valuable qualifications and experience that could ultimately lead to them becoming fully qualified PE teachers.Your Assessment
This course is assessed through a variety of different assignments, controlled assessments and examinations. Our specialist staff will support you to achieve your best possible grades.
