Franklin student learn about Tourism in York

On Wednesday 14th December, 45 Travel and Tourism and Business students had a day trip to York including a visit to the fun but very scary York Dungeons.

Whilst there the students went around ten scary rooms, with actors in each one adding to the complete experience. They were terrorised by the Plague Doctor, met Guy Fawkes, encountered the Torturer and got to burn their teachers at the stake! There was lots of screaming and jumping with nerves, but a good time was had by all . The students gained an understanding of this popular tourist attraction with some behind the scenes exposure and the chance to ask questions.

After the Dungeons students explored the city of York. The German Christmas Market was in town with loads of unique stalls and festive treats . There was a great Christmas atmosphere in the city. Some students took the opportunity to check out the Jamie Oliver restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the food. They were all given a treasure hunt which challenged them to find as many of the popular tourist attractions in York as they could find including; York Minster, The Shambles, York City Walls, Betty’s Tearooms and the most haunted pub. A thoroughly enjoyable day with a fab time had by all.
