Students from six local schools showcased their creative writing skills after being selected as winners in our annual World Book Day creative writing competition. The winning students spent the day at Franklin taking part in a creative writing masterclass led by our English tutors. Throughout the day, the students enjoyed several activities which helped them develop their talents in areas such as how to creatively describe objects, expand their vocabulary, tell a convincing story and experiment with writing different forms of poetry.
Students and staff had a fabulous time discovering all the young creative writing talent in the area had to offer, finally declaring Sophie, a Year 10 student from Oasis Academy Wintringham, as the overall winner. Sophie expressed her delight with the day, "It's nice to see the community and the opportunities available at Franklin. It's been great to meet students from other schools, familiarise myself with the college and go on a tour to understand what the college is like."
